Come Let Us Sing The Song of Songs

"A few years ago, Malcolm introduced me to the lyrics of this old hymn. They were so rich, so profound and so true. I was captivated by the idea of the song of all songs - it etched this image in my mind of all of the songs that we have written and sung throughout the years all being stacked up, like one vinyl record on top of the other…. and I imagine a song like this being the sum of all of the others combined.

That’s were the add of the chorus came from: "'Glory be unto God, to whom all praise belongs, praises rise like a flood to glorify the Son.' My hope is that the totality of our songs being found worthy of the one of whom we sing." (Mark Alan Schoolmeesters)

VERSE 1
Come, let us sing the song of songs
The angels first began the strain
The homage which to Christ belongs
Worthy the lamb, for he was slain

VERSE 2
Slain to redeem us by His blood
To cleanse from every sinful stain
And make us kings and priests to God
Worthy the lamb, for he was slain

CHORUS
Glory be unto God
To him whom praise belongs
Praises rise like a flood
To glorify the son

VERSE 3
To him who suffered on the tree
Our souls, at his soul’s price, to gain
Blessing and praise and glory be
Worthy the lamb, for he was slain

VERSE 4
To him, enthroned by filial right
All power in heaven and earth proclaim
Honor and majesty and might
Worthy the lamb, for he was slain

VERSE 5
Long as we live, and when we die
And while in heaven with him reign
This song our song of songs shall be
Worthy the lamb, for he was slain
