Comfort And Carry

Comfort And Carry

"We as people love tangible, hard evidence. We like to hold things in our hands and experience them intimately. Doing so lets us know beyond all doubt that what we are experiencing is real and true. The Spirit of God, however, isn't physical. The lack of physicality of the Spirit can often lead to doubt. There's nothing inherently wrong with doubt itself; however, what we do with our doubt is where the challenge lies. It becomes so easy to be ruled by doubt; letting it creep in and slowly turn our belief into disbelief. From there, disbelief has a tendency of turning into slothfulness and a lack of desire to spend time with the Spirit. What I have found, as ironic and simple as it is, is that spending time with the Spirit in silence and meditation is what reinforces our faith. When we do so on our own time, and with others, we begin to see the physical attributes the Spirit possesses, acted out in the body of Christ. We see healing, restoration, reconciliation and the list goes on. These tangible characteristics of how the Spirit moves in us are the evidence that informs our belief. The importance of seeking out community and time alone to reinforce these beliefs is what this song is about to me. It's about the dry spells where we let our disbelief get the best of us, and how we respond by proclaiming our belief in the comfort and strength that comes only from the Sprit of God. VERSE 1
Spirit
Comfort and carry me
Through the uncertainty
I've been feeling
Spirit
If You're the life in me
Give me the strength to breath
Come and fill me

CHORUS
I believe that I belong
Oh how long to always be with You

VERSE 2
Spirit
You said You're always close
To broken hearts and wounded souls
I can't feel it
Spirit
I wait and I watch for You
To do what only You can do
I need healing
