God Of Color

God Of Color

There is not one white person in the bible. Every story is about people of color, written by people of color, all worshipping a God Of Color.

”It doesn't matter how proud, how enlightened, or how woke you become, when you're brown you must face the truth that there are more things built to dehumanize you than there are to affirm the image of God in you. This song is the ace up my sleeve, my holy diss, the ultimate come-back to those who say they love Jesus yet withhold justice from their generously melanated siblings. One day they must also face the truth that we, too, are fearfully and wonderfully made in his image ... his melanated image.” (Jalen Seawright)

“Art is designed to point to beauty,
music is designed to inspire,
faith, when healthy, is designed to point to beauty and to inspire.
God of Color is art and music, wrapped in a healthy faith, calling people to a spiritual walk free of colonial residue.” (Rev Otis Moss III)

VERSE 1
You’re a God of wonder
Oh, you paint in living color
Oh my sister, oh my brother
Every pigment every shade
Oh, the king you sent to save us
My melanated savior
Who they decolorize to colonize
Give me Jesus in full color

PRE CHORUS 1
All his attributes
Give me all his hue
His dark skin
His brown eyes
A Jew from Palestine
I’ll have everything I need if you would…

CHORUS
Give me Jesus
More of Jesus
All of Jesus
Jesus, in living color

VERSE 2
Give them eyes to see
My humanity
In its beauty and its power
All you created me to be

PRE CHORUS 2
All my attributes
Give them all my hue
My dark skin
My brown eyes…

RAP
I woke up
I know yo prices
Can’t sell me BS
I had enough of your devices
I’m here to live blessed
They supplied the lies
Decolorize
To colonize the lives of tribes
That occupied the text
The truth so poetic
Plus da flow, athletic
Brown skin Semitic
Don’t you forget it
I know the haters regret it
They done messed up
So I give God the credit
Give me dat black man permanent tan
Dat walked on water like we walk on land
Dat turned dat water it into a party
Who fights for justice no matter how awfully
Hard it gets
He pardons sins
I’m convinced
His love was meant
To live within
My melanin
It’s heaven sent
So give me him
So give me him
