Emmaus Cypher

Emmaus Cypher

We are building Common Hymnal as an online library for the church of the future, the church that Gen Z innovates. We are not anticipating the seamless worship to be the default musical ingredient of the ‘gathering’, but are hoping for something a little more conversational. As Phillip Joubert says, the cypher is ‘a dinner table discussion with a beat.’

CHORUS (Vincent Charlow)
All the stuff I been through, boy I tell you it’s amazing
Thought I lost my mind, I won’t even lie, almost went crazy
Couple times I swore to God that I would never make it
Guess who was walking by my side all that time, IAENOIT
Emmaus

VERSE 1 (Seaux Chill)
Have you seen angels with afros
I know a halo with mad glow
As fo
Making it right know what you up against
I been gettin big love way before covenant
Just a black boy on his way to liberation
Give the people what they want and never keep em waitin
For the content
Squad Godsent it ain’t complex
Everyday struggle know the hustle be a process

CHORUS (Vincent Charlow)
They want to see us breaking bad
But we breaking bread with our bredren
They wanna try and steal the wave
But we shift the tides and reset it
Mama always told me what God has for if you baby
So I look up when I’m down bad
I can big smile when they big mad
With my big faif, and my big laugh

All the stuff I been through, boy I tell you it’s amazing
Thought I lost my mind, I won’t even lie, almost went crazy
Couple times I swore to God that I would never make it
Guess who was walking by my side all that time, IAENOIT
Emmaus

VERSE 2 (Royce Lovett)
Yo folk it’s Royce Love
Too many flows from the above
Or should I say the most high
So fly I need a alibi
But no fiction in my diction, get the message
Touch a hot stove and catch a lesson
Get on my plate with some cabbage and brown stew fish
Shoot it straight
I know you lovett
Black Cupid

VERSE 3 (Andrew Blooms)
Yellow man, yellow man, yellow man up
Tell em man, tell em man, tell em wassup
Y’all ain’t never seen it like this befo
This yellow boy bad, this yellow boy dope
I be dropping bars, no Zanex
Tight up yo ass like spandex
We are from two different planets
How I’m made is my advantage yahhhh

CHORUS (Vincent Charlow)
All the stuff I been through, boy I tell you it’s amazing
Thought I lost my mind, I won’t even lie, almost went crazy
Couple times I swore to God that I would never make it
Guess who was walking by my side all that time, IAENOIT
Emmaus

VERSE 4 (Seb Camry)
My tank on my E, my bank on E
I got bigger fish to fry, I ain’t stressing bout a chain on me
I gotta couple lil bros, and a little sis that bank on me
And thankfully the Lord provided
Took my time with it all, now the stars aligning
I admit a lotta times, man I tried fight it
Had this light up in my soul and I tried to hide it
All this fire in my bones, taking flight ignited

VERSE 5 (Sharon Irving)
Yeah, I stay on the move...  ain’t got nothing to prove
You can’t walk in my shoes
Living breathing, walking art, I’m a misfit
Illuminated like a spark, I’m lit kid
Armed
God is my witness
Blazing light up in the darkness
Raisin in the sun
Descendent of men who marched with Kings
Queen head - held - high
Southside fly - Yuh!

CHORUS (Vincent Charlow)
All the stuff I been through, boy I tell you it’s amazing
Thought I lost my mind, I won’t even lie, almost went crazy
Couple times I swore to God that I would never make it
Guess who was walking by my side all that time, IAENOIT
Emmaus

VERSE 6 (Phillip Joubert)
Gimme six feet, man I need my space
My 13 wide sitting on the head of a snake
The church boy put the rhymes in a three piece suit
But step back, jetpacks, they don't need no brakes
It's no gas but we lit this match on unleaded
Nobody finna hand me the bag - I go get it
Black man, du rag, locs and good credit
Talk straight from my chest, 'cause I live it
And we ain't stopping, 'cause falling ain't been a option
The battery in my back on infinity
Literally not a question of my ability
Pressing into source of the dunamis
Luminous, I can't hide what he put in me
So I claim my stake in that treasure
Eat a beat like Chick-Fil-A, that's my pleasure
Asking when I shake my faith, how 'bout never
True and living God, no cap, it's none better
I'm gone

VERSE 7 (Dee Wilson)
One thing straight
Ion need the sweet talk I got all flowers I’ll need
G gone stay in the box that it came don’t ask me see
That’s not muscle, I don’t want the trouble of it looking at me
That’s not humble, I’m livin in a tunnel if I can’t 3peat.
Then I’m reminded of talks w big homies that told me I couldn’t be touch if he for me
And if he gone do it it won’t be because ya boi earned
I’m learning my place in this journey.
He just gone pick up the bill, ain’t a copay
He make path when the hata say no way
Junior just played out in London w Coldplay
Bloom had just slid through the spot w the OJ

Black joy that’s the new sound of the protest
And I promise when I meet the King
He ain’t askin for nonathis acoustic stuff
We gone shake it up and spit a 16 and that’s crazy
